her husband left her - twice - for a woman 20 years her junior,
understandably Amanda Burton was heartbroken.
But exactly one year after
splitting from Sven Arnstein for the second time, the 50-year-old
Silent Witness star has found new love.
And bizarrely, her 53-year-old
boyfriend, Stephen Colover, is an acclaimed photographer - just
like her philandering ex, Arnstein.
The couple were pictured for the
first time enjoying morning coffee and breakfast at Mr Colover's
local Italian cafe.
Wearing a winter coat and scarf,
the Ulster-born actress gazed fondly at the new man in her life,
stroking his cheek and, at one point, kissing him affectionately
on the crown of his head.
And Mr Colover, in turn, appeared
equally smitten - kissing Miss Burton's hand and repeatedly
massaging her shoulders and neck.
The couple, who are understood to
have been dating for around two months, are described by friends
as 'emphatically loved-up'.
'Stephen is a really, really lovely
man and we're all so thrilled that Amanda has come into his life,'
said a friend of Mr Colover.
'He is completely genuine and just
an all-round great guy - what you see is what you get. It is not
hard to see why Amanda fell for him.
'They look really great together
and, as a couple, are incredibly tactile. Steve has been walking
around with a massive grin on his face and I think that Amanda has
played a large part in that.
'When they first started dating,
Steve refused to tell people that he was dating a well-known
actress - he simply talked about her as Amanda - not Amanda
Burton. It came as a bit of a shock for a few people when they
realised who she was.
'But it doesn't take a rocket
scientist to realise that the pair are emphatically loved up -
they really are very happy.'
After splitting from Arnstein, Miss
Burton moved out of her former marital home and into a house just
a few miles away with the couple's two teenage daughters, Phoebe,
16, and Brid, 15.
While celebrity photographer
Arnstein, 50, has continued his relationship with 30-year-old
journalist, Sarah Bush - the woman for whom he left Miss Burton -
the actress has not, until now, been romantically linked with
Mr Colover, a successful commercial
photographer whose work has appeared in both Vogue and Tatler,
owns a studio in London's Mayfair, not far from the Silent Witness
star's south-west London home.
One of his most controversial
portraits, featuring a topless woman with her mouth open in
apparent ecstasy, is entitled Silent Scream.
The £1,400 portrait, which was
exhibited two years ago, is not thought to have been inspired by
the actress who plays pathologist Sam Ryan in the BBC 1 drama,
Miss Burton's newfound happiness
comes a year after she moved out of marital home following
Arnstein's announcement that he was leaving her for magazine
journalist, Miss Bush.
After confessing to the fling three
years ago, Arnstein is said to have begged for forgiveness and
persuaded his wife of 16 years to take him back.
Despite trying for nearly two years
to patch up their marriage, Arnstein and Miss Bush - who was also
married when the affair started - got back together last year.
Last night Mr Colover declined to
comment on the relationship.
